Our office is here to help you understand your coverage's, so it is your responsiblity to call us if there is something you don't understand or not sure if it is covered. Be sure and ask us about options and insurance coverage's available to meet your Insurance needs so that you are properly insured. Take a few moments to review this small but not exclusive Insurance Review Checklist to see if you need to make changes or updates to your policies.

Homeowner’s Coverage Did you know…

If you have recently remodeled your home, you may be underinsured.

Homeowner’s policies now limit or exclude coverage for mold, and insurance carriers have added special limits on damage caused by mold.

Homeowner’s policies have special limitations on, jewelry, watches, silver, furs, collectibles, breakable fine arts and other personal articles. Scheduling these personal articles eliminates these limitations. There are also limitations on cash, gold, etc.

Back up of a sewer and drain line is excluded from most policies, but coverage may be available by endorsement.

Flood coverage is never automatically included with a standard homeowner’s policy. Coverage is available on a separate policy.

If you operate a business out of your home, your homeowner’s insurance contracts provide little or no coverage. A home daycare business is always excluded from homeowner’s policies.

If you have household employees, you may need to consider a worker’s compensation policy.

If you own any other residences or rental properties, it is imperative that you contact our office so we can ensure that you are adequately covered.

If you are a member of a homeowners association, there are common areas that are the responsibility of the association. As a member of that association, you can be assessed for any losses to the common areas where there is no insurance or not enough insurance to cover the loss. Your homeowner’s policy provides limited or no coverage for Loss Assessments.

If you own a condominium or townhouse, you should check your association policy and review exactly what it covers with regard to the interior structure.

As home building codes change, the increased cost to repair or rebuild your home to comply with new building codes may not be covered by your policy.

Identity Theft coverage may be available on your policy.

Automobile Coverage Did you know…

You are able to increase your auto liability and/or medical payment limits. With today’s rising injury damage awards, you may want to consider higher limits.

If we don’t insure all of the vehicles and licensed drivers in your household, unlisted autos and/or drivers may be excluded from coverage.

Electronic devices that are not permanently installed in the dash (such as stereos, two way radios, DVDs, TVs, etc.) or other customized equipment such as campers and trailers are not covered by most auto policies, but coverage may be available.

With the ever-increasing number of uninsured/underinsured motorists on the road, adequate coverage limits are crucial.

You can usually save money on your automobile policy if your homeowner’s policy is written with the same company & vice-versa.

Ask us about Loan Lease/Gap Coverage on all new vehicles you purchase, it is usually cheaper if added to your auto policy.

Umbrella/Excess Liability Coverage Did you know…

If you wish to protect your assets in the event of a catastrophic judgment, you can obtain a $1,000,000 or higher umbrella/excess liability coverage (minimum coverage required) in addition to your automobile and homeowner’s liability policy limits.

Excess Uninsured/Underinsured coverage may also be available.

Dwelling Fire Coverage Did you know…

If you have contents in a rental dwelling, they are not automatically covered.

Theft is not covered on a Dwelling Fire policy.

Most Dwelling Fire policies do not include coverage for Loss of Rents, but coverage may be available by endorsement.

Just a Reminder…

Be sure to contact our office if you have completed a home renovation or addition, acquired or purchased any additional vehicles, watercraft, campers, trailers, ATV’s, property, pool, trampoline, pets, if you are a Director, Officer, Volunteer or any other changes in your life needing an Insurance update.

Additional coverage(s) and higher limits are only a phone call away, if you have any questions please contact us so that there are no misunderstandings with your coverage(s).
Let us review your policy and possibly help you find a variety of ways to save money. Here are some things you may want to consider:

• Ask us to check several companies’ rates. This is the single most important thing you can do to get the best possible rate—and we can do it for you quickly and easily. The difference between the highest and lowest rate available to you from different companies could vary by hundreds of dollars.

• Reduce or drop physical damage coverage on an older car. Depending on your car’s age and where you live, comprehensive and collision coverage may not be worth keeping. Check Kelly Blue Book ( kbb.com ) or other sources for the current value of your vehicle to see whether it makes sense to reduce or drop this coverage altogether.

• Raise your deductible. According to the Insurance Information Institute, raising your deductible from $200 to $500 could reduce your collision and comprehensive cost by 15 to 30 percent. In addition, because the average driver files a collision claim only once every ten years, odds are that over the lifetime of your car, a higher deductible will save you money.

• Look for discounts. Many insurance companies reduce premiums for certain driver traits or car features. For example: being a homeowner, students with good grades, people who only drive for pleasure, antilock brakes, antitheft devices, air bags, etc. and our agency also offers the Progressive Snapshot program (ask for details).

• Don’t assume having your car and home insured with the same company is the best option. Because auto insurance rates vary so much from company to company, it may make sense for you to have your car and home insured by separate companies. Let us check rates to see which is the best option.
